Medicare doesn’t pay for 24-hour care at home or homemaking/custodial services when this is the only care you need. Medicare is focused on providing coverage for medical health expenses, so if the only care you need is non-medical, then Medicare won’t cover it. For more information about what Medicare will and won’t cover with home health, visit: https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/home-health-services
The Veteran’s Affairs health insurance may cover some portion of the home health expenses, depending on your income and level of service-connected disability. The rest of the cost can be covered through Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, or out-of-pocket. To find out more, visit https://www.va.gov/health-care/about-va-health-benefits/long-term-care/
There are several forms of assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that can help veterans afford home care. There are three different pension benefits that can be applied towards home health care: the Improved Pension, Housebound, and Aid and Attendance.
Depending on your policy and coverage, your major medical insurance provider may pay for some or all of your home health care services. There may be a co-pay or deductible, and you will always be made aware of that information before services begin. For assistance and guidance on how to pay for your home health care, contact Ancora to speak with one of our consultants.
